The Cardiff University is pleased to offer studentship opportunities for UK/EU students to pursue the postdoctoral research.  Successful applicants will work on a research project entitled ‘Vision Sciences: Investigation of pain and discomfort associated with anti-VEGF injections’ under the supervision of Dr Ashley Wood, Dr Jennifer Acton and Professor Heather Waterman.

The aim of the program is to increase the proportion of postgraduate research studentship in Vision Sciences at Cardiff University.

The university is composed of three colleges: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Biomedical and Life Sciences; and Physical Sciences and Engineering. The university is consistently recognized as providing high-quality research-based university education

Course Level: Studentship is available to pursue postgraduate research.

Study Subject: Studentship will be awarded in the field of Vision Sciences.

Scholarship Award: studentship will be awarded:

  • Full UK/EU tuition fees
  • Doctoral stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum

Number of Scholarships: One studentship is available

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for studentship:

  • Open to all UK/EU students without further restrictions
  • Applicants with an optometry (optometrist), psychology or relevant healthcare background are desirable. Your bachelor’s degree must be a 2:1 or above. A master’s degree is required for non-optometrist applicants.

Nationality: UK/EU applicants can apply for this studentship

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: A master’s degree is required for non-optometrist applicants.

English language Requirements: students meet the necessary language proficiency requirements of the host institution.

How to Apply:

  • Consideration is automatic on applying for a Doctor of Philosophy in Optometry and Vision Sciences (Research) with a start date of 1 July 2017.
  • Please email a CV (including the names and contact details of two referees) and covering letter outlining your interest in the project separately to Dr Ashley Wood, stating the title of the PhD studentship for which you are applying.

Application Deadline: Studentship application deadline is May 31, 2017.
