Umea University Ph.D. students in Economics, 2017 is open to candidates who wish to work at the Department of Economics at Umeå School of Business and Economics.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants of Umea University Ph.D. students in Economics, 2017 must have a degree on advanced level or a total of 240 ECT credits of which 60 credits are at the advanced level.
  • Applicants should possess at least 90 ECT credits in Economics.
  • Candidates applying for Umea University Ph.D. students in Economics, 2017 must have a strong interest in research, scientific skills and be able to work in teams and also independently.
  • Candidates should be proficient in written and oral English.
  • Those with a degree from a non-Swedish university should provide their results from the GMAT and/or GRE and TOEFL tests if available.
  • Applicants must have documented skills in the use of quantitative methods in Econometrics and Mathematics.

  • Degree certificates
  • A cover letter in maximum 2 pages describing their qualifications, scientific interests and reasons for applying
  • CV
  • Research proposal in at most 2 pages explaining research ideas and how they are contributing to the current literature in Labor Economics
  • Contact details of 2 referees
  • Bachelor and/or Master thesis or similar documentation of research skills
