For the academic year 2017-2018, Government of Hong Kong is offering Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master’s Degree Programmes).

“The Scholarship for Teachers” aims to celebrate achievements of high-performing teachers and to encourage teachers’ pursuit of higher qualifications as well as to enhance their professionalism.

The aim of education for Hong Kong is to promote students’ whole-person development and life-long learning capabilities. Education helps to unleash human potentials and enhance people qualities and the competitiveness of the HKSAR.

Course Level: Students must have enrolled in local part-time master’s degree programme.

Study Subject: The eight areas of focus are T-standard+ , T-datasetPD, T-trainß , T-surf24/7, T-craft3 , T-share, T-applause and T-bridge.

Scholarship Award: A total amount of HK$80,000 will be awarded to each awardee.

Number of Scholarships: The quota for “the Scholarship for Teachers” (2017/18) is 20.

Scholarship can be taken in Hong Kong

Eligibility: Application is open to full-time serving teachers who

  • Have been serving as regular teachers in local day schools (including secondary, primary and special schools offering a formal curriculum) for at least five years; and
  • Have enrolled, in the following school year (2017/18), a local part-time master’s degree programme conducted by a local higher education institution specialising in one of the following six areas: STEM4 Education, Information Technology in Education, Language Education (Chinese or English), Values Education, Catering for Learner Diversity (including Special Educational Needs, Gifted Education and Inclusive Education) and Guidance and Counselling (including Career Guidance, Counselling and Life Education)

Nationality: Hong Kong citizens are eligible to apply.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have previous degree.

How to Apply: Teachers who wish to apply for “the Scholarship for Teachers” should submit the completed application forms with the supporting documents, including a copy of offer letter of the enrolled programme from the institution, to the Education Bureau by the deadline (19 June 2017). Besides, the Recommendation Form should be completed by the Principal of the serving school. He/she should submit the form separately by the deadline.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants of CUHK Golden Jubilee Celestial Civilian Scholarship, 2017 should be full-time students undertaking either undergraduate or postgraduate research programs.
  • A dissertation/research paper/thesis on Hong Kong literature and related fields must be submitted by the applicants.
  • A statement in Chinses or English in about 500-800 words on how to make use of the Hong Kong literature collection for the research must be submitted.

Eligibility:

Student’s prerequisite degrees should be from the following: art history, cultural studies, media/communication studies, fine arts practice (media related), cultural management, museology, art restoration, computer science, and any other field directly related to digital media, the arts or culture. Other fields will be taken into consideration by the Application Board.

Applicants must have as first degree at least a Bachelor degree or higher issued by a university (quantified as three years of studies corresponding to 180 ECTS).
