Higherlife Foundation is offering Joshua Nkomo Scholarships for Zimbabwean students. Scholarships are awarded to pursue the undergraduate degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM).

A-level scholarships are for candidates starting Lower 6th and University scholarships are for candidates entering 1st-year undergraduate studies.

Higherlife Foundation is an Africa-based social impact organisation committed to investing in the future of children through Education. The Foundation is working to scale its impact across Africa by raising 2 million African leaders by 2020. The Foundation targets orphans and vulnerable children, as well as students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and focuses its work on education on the three key areas of Providing Access to education, Improving Quality of education and Providing Lifelong Development.

DAAD offers research grants to young foreign academics and scientists with an opportunity to carry out research and continue their education in Germany. This programme is intended to support doctoral projects in Germany.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be excellently-qualified young academics and scientists who have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research.
  • Applicants must not have graduated any longer than 6 years before the application deadline.
  • If applicant is already working on a PhD degree; then it shouldn’t have started longer than three years previously.
  • Applicants who have been staying in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline cannot be considered.
  • Language skills: for the arts, social sciences and law, at least a good knowledge of German is expected. For the natural sciences and engineering, proof of good English language skills may also be accepted if English is spoken at the host institute.

Scope:

  • PhD programmes at a state or state-recognised institution of higher education or a non-university research institute in Germany:

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) offers Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences. The grant was established in response to the needs of researchers in developing countries, particularly those attached to institutions that lack appropriate research facilities. The programme is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Italian government.

  • Each applicant must have at least one MSc student under his/her supervision.
  • Research unit leaders who submit a satisfactory final report on a previous grant may apply for a renewal.

CiM-IMPRS is Cells In Motion (CiM) Graduate School and the International Max Planck Research School, Molecular Biomedicine (IMPRS-MBM).

CiM-IMPRS is a combined graduate program formed by the merger of the two schools at University of Münster. The course is jointly run by the University of Münster & the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine. The course is a continuation and expansion of the former CEDAD-IMPRS series.

The University of Amsterdam is offering UvA385 Grants for PhD candidates. Grants are available for pursuing PhD degree programme and other various purposes, such as a conference abroad or a business visit to colleagues in another country.

In 2017, the University of Amsterdam is celebrating its 385th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the UvA is introducing a new type of grant, the UvA385 Grant, which enables UvA PhD candidates to acquire international experience.

The University of Amsterdam is a public university located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Established in 1632 by municipal authorities and later renamed for the city of Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam is the third-oldest university in the Netherlands.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Course Level: Grants are available for pursuing PhD programme.

Study Subject: Two-thirds of doctoral positions are in the fields of the natural sciences and medicine, and a third are in social and behavioural sciences, humanities, economics and law.

Scholarship Award:

  • The grants are intended to enable students to acquire additional international experience on top of their regular opportunities.
  • The grants are aimed at UvA PhD candidates approved by the Doctorate Board who are actively working on research.
