TWAS-UPM Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme

For young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to do advanced research in the natural sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Selangor, Malaysia.

Programme Details

  1. TWAS-UPM Postdoctoral Fellowships are based in UPM research laboratories and institutes in Malasia for a least period of six months to a maximum period of twelve months.
  2. UPM will provide a monthly stipend to cover for living costs, food and health insurance.
  3. The award of fellowship is subject to obtaining in due course a final offer letter of admission from UPM that must be approved by UPM University’s Committee. Upon receipt of the UPM-TWAS award letter from TWAS, applicants will need to contact in due course the UPM School of Graduate Studies to apply for final offer letter. In case the application for final offer letter of admission is not approved by UPM, this award will become insignificant and void.
  4. The language of instruction is English.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for these fellowships must meet following criteria:

  1. Candidate should be nationals of a developing country (other than Malaysia).
  2. Candidate must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Malaysia or any developed country.
  3. Candidate must hold a PhD degree in a field of science or technology.
  4. Candidate must apply for the fellowship within five years of having obtained a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences
  5. Candidate will provide proof of proficiency in English, if medium of education was not English;
  6. Candidate will provide evidence that s/he will return to her/his home country on completion of fellowship;
  7. Candidate should not take up other assignments during the period of her/his fellowship;
  8. Candidate be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.
  • Candidate must be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Malaysia) and have a research assignment there;

  2. Please note that applicant must have already contacted a potential host supervisor/professor in UPM before sending their request for an acceptance letter to School of Graduate Studies, UPM.
  3. The acceptance letter must come from Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, UPM only.

 How to Apply

The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 September of each year.

  • Candidates should submit Acceptance Letter issued from Dean of graduate studies UPM to TWAS when applying or by deadline at the latest. Without initial acceptance, the application will not be considered for selection.
  • Reference letters: Referees must send signed letters on their letter headed paper as attachments via e-mail directly to TWAS. The subject line must contain: UPM/PDoc/candidate’s surname.
  • Applications for the TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme should be sent to TWAS only (by email).

The Yayasan Wah Seong Scholarship Awards, 2017 are for students who require financial support and academically deserving students.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants of The Yayasan Wah Seong Scholarship Awards, 2017 must be Malaysian nationals.
  • Candidates currently studying, applying or registered to local private and public universities/colleges are eligible.

The AISM Pre-University Scholarships, 2017 are open to Malaysian students taking up SPM / IBMYP / IGCSE / O-Levels in 2017.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Successful candidates of AISM Pre-University Scholarships, 2017 will enter Year 11 and Year 12 that will help them for admission into recognized universities around the world.
  • The scholarships are granted based on the strength of the student’s leadership, academic performance, sports, a strong background in co-curricular activities, arts, and community involvement.
  • Applicants who otherwise cannot attend and benefit from a school like AISM will be preferred.

The Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) is offering full two-years scholarships to students who are eligible to enrol in the school for the AISM Pre-university course. Scholarships are now open for Malaysian students sitting for SPM / IBMYP / IGCSE / O-Levels in 2017.

AISM is committed to delivering quality education, through the internationally-recognised Australian curriculum.

The Australian International School Malaysia is an Australian international school in The MINES Resort City in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia. AISM is the only school in Malaysia that follows an Australian curriculum.

Course Level: Scholarship is available for students who are eligible to enrol in the school for the AISM Pre-university course.

Scholarship Award: Scholarships worth RM170,000 for the two-year course will cover Application Fee, Admission Fee, Tuition Fees and Technology Fees. In addition, the scholarship may be extended, depending on student performance, to the Taylor’s University for selected Degree courses.

Eligibility: Full Scholarships are now open for Malaysian students sitting for SPM / IBMYP / IGCSE / O-Levels in 2017. Successful students will enter Year 11 and 12 and sit for the Higher School Certificate (HSC), recognised for entry into Australian, Malaysian, United Kingdom, USA, and other universities worldwide.

Nationality: Malaysian students can apply for these scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have their previous degree.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: Students need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English.

  • Application Form: Please complete the Application Form.
  • Financial Statement: Parents/guardians to provide a copy of an up-to-date financial statement from the most recent Federal Tax Return (2016 EA Form). This information is confidential and is used solely to determine financial need.
  • School Certificates: A copy of the last two years of School Reports, School Certificates or SPM Forecast (if available) of the Applicant must be included with the Application Form.
  • Teacher Recommendation: Please ask your current Principal or a Senior Teacher at your current school to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
  • Other Documents to be provided
    – Copy of student, father and mother/guardian Identity Card or Passport, both sides are required
    – Copy of student’s birth certificate
    – One recent color passport size photograph of the student, father and mother/guardian
